Capital Campaign

Red Wiggler's expansion will increase the farm's capacity at every level - by our estimate 25% increased capacity - from program duration to delivery.

We're closing in on the $1.245 million mark - and need your help to reach our Ready, Set, Grow campaign goal. Our solar-powered farm house was completed in July 2008. Our goal is to break ground on the green Multipurpose Program Center by early 2010 and have it completed by the end of the year.

Here are the new renderings:

Why green buildings?

To grow healthy food, we employ ecologically sensitive practices. We use only natural compost and fertilizer, rotate crops and grow a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowers to maintain soil nutrients and reduce pest damage. The farm, which creates habitat for butterflies and other beneficial insects, also relies on green building practices in all of its development projects.

As environmental stewards, we want to reduce energy and water consumption, produce fewer harmful greenhouse gas emissions, create less landfill waste and - as an effective nonprofit - lower our operating costs.

Multipurpose Program Center

The 2,000-square-foot Multipurpose Program Center is planned to adhere to the U.S. Green Building Council's standards for sustainability. The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) Green Building Rating System provides an independent, third-party verification that a project meets the highest green building and performance measures in five key areas: sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.
